I actually do this a lot. I find saying it out loud really difficult, and texting or something like that too impersonal. Even though letters are like long text messages, it takes hours to write one, at least for me, and with every stroke of your pen, your blood is poured out onto the paper. It’s deeply personal, well thought through, and you can keep it to read again. People should send letters more often; It’s hard to say stupid things in letters.
